Action Lesotho works to support the
Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) in Lesotho.
Action Lesotho works with community
development groups on the ground; the groups are comprised of local volunteers
who, working with the community, identify and prioritise the needs in the local
area and Action Lesotho endeavours to create links, supports and essential funding for the
development of the identified needs. Action Lesotho aims to promote employment
opportunities through micro enterprise, cooperatives and revolving community
loans. We believe that the way out of poverty is through access to information,
education and trade.

Action Lesotho is a community based voluntary
organisation that has been in existence since 2006; in its support of the MDGs
it aims to assist and empower communities in Lesotho; alleviate the devastating
effects of poverty and HIV/AIDS by working closely with community led groups to
jointly support vulnerable and orphaned children, the disabled and those unable
to gain employment by developing a variety of initiatives.
Action Lesotho links villages in
Lesotho with villages and towns in Ireland to enable participation that enriches
people in both countries. Action Lesotho is involved with Basotho counterparts in
agricultural, educational, health and micro enterprise projects. Working
directly with community groups we aim to create sustainable projects through
capacity building using local NGOs and voluntary expertise from Ireland and
Lesotho. Action Lesotho currently has twelve projects in Lesotho and is operating in the
following areas: Maputsoe, Kolonyama, Berea, Qoqolosing.
