Lepoqong Caregivers

Lepoqong Caregivers operate out of a Community Development Centre which was extended by Action Lesotho volunteers. It is a multipurpose building providing feeding programmes, youth projects, training facilities, computers, recreational facilities and a meeting space. One of the specialist services provided there is weekly physiotherapy for disabled children.
The centre has 50 orphaned children who are registered for the Feeding Programme for vulnerable children which operates at weekends and during holiday periods. The children receive a hot meal and also avail of recreational opportunities provided by volunteers at the centre, including learning computer skills.
The Malimpo Feeding Programme for critically sick clients is another project that the Lepoqong Caregivers operate. Clients receive a monthly delivery of basic provisions. All of the clients are HIV positive and are on an ARV programme of medication, thus daily food is vital to their well being. Action Lesotho now employ a nurse who visits the clients on the Malimpo Feeding Programme two days a week.
The Willing Hearts Youth Project was formed from the older children attending the Feeding Programme for vulnerable children. They assist in the development work of the centre. They have, for example, built keyhole gardens, helped with the playground facilities and help with registration and supporting the younger children.
